Novelist Hannah Tinti will be coming home to Salem before embarking on a national book tour to promote her new novel, and not only to relax with family and friends. On Saturday, July 19th at 2:30 pm, new Salem-based writing center The Parlor will host Hannah Tinti for their first annual Creative Connection held at The Salem Athenæum.

Executive Director Adam Pieroni noted, "The idea behind the Creative Connection is to connect local writers with notable authors to discuss the literary life. It’s more than a traditional reading because we are opening up a dialogue and helping writers build stronger connections in the community and with prominent authors. We thought, ‘who better than Hannah for our premier event?’"

Though Hannah Tinti now resides in New York, the author of two critically acclaimed books and founder of an award-winning literary journal, her roots are in Salem. "I grew up in Salem. It will always be home. Somehow or other my experiences in Salem always work themselves into my work, including my new novel."

Guests of the Creative Connection will get a sneak peek of Hannah’s novel, The Good Thief, set in 19th Century New England. Already, foreign rights to The Good Thief have been sold in ten countries. It will be published in the United Kingdom this month by Hodder Headline and in the United States by The Dial Press in September.
