Artist Bio or Résumé
Laurel Driskill is a painter who was born in Oklahoma in 1993. After marrying at age 19, she moved to Germany to live on a military base with her now ex-husband. She became involved in the local art scene there after a chance meeting with a renowned art collector. After her divorce in 2016, she moved back to the USA with a renewed spirit. With her newfound freedom, she fully enveloped herself in art and self-expression. She attended Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts. While growing as an artist, she also started posting on social media after discovering the phenomena of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response), a low-grade euphoria produced by sounds and aesthetics. Eventually, her savvy for being a content creator resulted in her social media platforms growing to over 1 million followers. She is known for combining ASMR with painting, with many viewers nicknaming her “The Female Bob Ross.” She is currently a partner with the live-streaming platform Twitch, going live every weekday. She also paints commissions live on stream. Her artwork is inspired by her upbringing in the Bible Belt. Recently, her paintings have dealt with religious themes, including a commissioned large self-portrait inspired by a Bible verse. She also dabbles with landscapes, abstracts, pop culture art and other portraitures. Though painting is her main passion, she is also a musician who composes her own music. She is currently recording studio material with experienced musician and producer Stu Kimball. In 2023, Laurel was diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder). She plans on making new artwork focusing on her experiences living on the autistic spectrum, as well as sharing her experience with others online through her creative voice.
