"Written Word" Exhibition at Salem Arts. Think of a word, any word. Or think of many, many words. We invite our member artists to use the written word as their artistic muse for this exhibition. Reception: Friday, June 28, 2024, 6-8 PM Exhibition Dates: June 29 – July 27, 2024 | While we may often think of art as a means to convey our message to the viewer, as artists, we are also looking within ourselves to find that expression, emotion, joy, or pain that emerges onto our chosen canvases, or through our lenses. Salem Arts Association asks our artist members to take a deep dive within, and to really explore our own inner world. Let the art tell your story, perhaps even betray your secrets, let go of those things you’ve pushed down and held on to so tightly. Art should be cathartic. Reception: Friday, June 28, 2024, 6-8 PM Exhibition Dates: June 29 – July 27, 2024 |
This photographic series of multi exposure self-portraits is an exploration of the haunted memories of eating disorders, sexual harassment, death and the shadows of family alcoholism, depression and anxiety all stirred back up by the hormonal whirlwind of aging.
There is no predetermined map to my photographs, just my camera, a pile of props, my body, and sheets of film ready for my thoughts to spill out on to light-stained, ground up bones. It is not until I am standing in my darkroom that I can begin translating the story the film has to tell me.
Reception: Friday, June 28, 2024, 6:00-8:00 PM
Exhibition Dates: June 29 – July 27, 2024

Paul Nathan GalleryWe're proud to host the largest collection of Paul Nathan artworks in the world. Nathan's unique process starts with acrylic paintings which are then photographed and composed as collage creating a whimsical and wonderful world uniquely their own. Paul Nathan has occupied this location since the mid-1980's and through his generosity and vision as an artist Salem Arts Association enjoys presenting our galleries in this space with Paul. |
