Impressions

Impressions.

Life is less like a box of chocolates and more like a neverending series of impressions made upon us, like finger marks in wet clay.  As artists, not only do we visualize and bring to life the impressions that have been made on us by sights, sounds, scents, interactions, dreams, and ideas; we also leave impressions on everyone who sees our work.  For this exhibition, we ask our member artists to consider the impressions you’re left with long after a thing has passed, to consider the impressions that we leave in our passing, and to bring those impressions to life.

  • Reception: Friday, August 2, 2024, 6:00-8:00 PM
  • Exhibition Dates: August 3 – September 7, 2024

Open Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Best of Show.

A landscape painting showing an aerial view of farm fields in bright sunlight.

Farm Fields Grid

by Francois-Xavier De Costerd

"This aerial perspective expertly renders the juxtaposition of the flat land plane and the distant mountains. The atmospheric perspective accomplishes the sense of distance within the dynamic composition. The play of abstraction and realism competently illustrates this artist's impression."

Second Prize.

A portrait of the musician Clifford Brown playing the trumpet.

Clifford Brown

by Edward Cardini

"The artist's impression of the musician is well-conceived. The rendition of the instrument coupled with the facial expressions, fingers, and sartorial touches tell the story. The handling of the medium rounds out the skill of the artist."

Third Prize.

An abstract work of art composed of dynamic, organic-looking shapes in shades of warm pink and orange and cool teal and green.

Aphrodites Ambrosia

by M Bujold

"A visually compelling composition with shapes, colors, and textures that jump off the page. Unanswered questions add to the Intrigue of the artist's intent."
