Artist Statement
The wood is my motivation. Wood is life: cracks, fissures and flaws; predictable and random; light and dark; spalted and clear; marked by bugs and worms. It’s beautiful all on its own, and in every piece I turn I try to bring that beauty forward so others can see and feel it.
Frank Lloyd Wright said it best: “Wood is universally beautiful to man. It is the most humanly intimate of all materials. Man loves his association with it, likes to feel it under his hand, sympathetic to his touch and to his eye.”
Pick my pieces up. They’re meant to be held.
